செல்ஃபோன் என அழைக்கப்படும் கைப்பேசி எவ்வளவு பரிமானத்தில் வந்தாலும் ஸ்க்ரீன் என்ற விஷயம் மட்டும் சதுரமாகத்தான் வருகிறது. காரணம்- டிஸ்ப்ளே எனப்படும் எல் சி டி தான் காரணம். இதை பத்து வருடங்களுக்கு மேல் ரிசர்ச் செய்யும் சோனி, சாம்சங், தோஷிபா போன்றவர்கள் எப்படியாவது ஃபிலக்ஸிபிள் டிஸ்ப்லே அதாவது சதுரத்திற்க்கு பதிலாக மடக்க அல்லது சுருட்டி வைக்க கூடிய டிஸ்ப்லேக்களை ஆராய்ச்சி அளவில் தான் சோதனை செய்யபட்டிருந்தாலும் 2011 ஆம் ஆண்டு சாம்சங் நாங்கள் இந்த வருடத்தில் பிளக்ஸிபல் டிஸ்ப்லே கொன்டு வருவோம் என கூறி ஒரு வருடம் கழித்து இப்போது தான் புரோட்டோ டைப்பை ரெடி செய்திருக்கின்றனர்.
அதுதான் இந்த படத்தில் உள்ள பிளக்ஸிபில் டிஸ்ப்ளே, கண்ணாடிக்கு பதிலாக பிளாஸ்டிக்கில் செய்திருக்கின்றனர், இது அமோஎலீடி வகையை சார்ந்தது. இது வந்தால் ஃபோனை சுருட்டி வைக்க முடியும். டிஸ்ப்ளே உடையும் அபாயம் இல்லை. அது போக விலை குறையும் மற்றும் வாட்டர் ஃப்ரூப் செய்ய இயலும்.இதை வெற்றி கரமாக ஹாங்காங்கில் லான்ச் செய்யபட்டிருக்கிறது இந்தியாவுக்கு 2013ல் கிடைக்கும். இதன் வீடியோ இங்கிருக்கிறது.

More interestingly, Samsung has decided to make use of plastic instead of glass to produce these OLED displays, thus rendering them unbreakable. Famous for its AMOLED screens, Samsung made a choice of OLEDs here again instead of Plasma or LCD because they can be made flexible and transparent. Sony, the other popular smartphone manufacturer says it has been doing research on flexible displays for almost a decade now, but they still don’t seem to have any plans of commercializing their technology.
